Established in 2004, RSPO sets the environmental and social criteria that growers must meet to produce RSPO Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO) — covering deforestation, biodiversity, labour rights and community impact across the plantation.
Supply chain certification is available at different levels of traceability, depending on how tightly certified material needs to be tracked: Mass Balance allows certified and non-certified material to mix with volumes tracked on paper; Segregated keeps certified material physically separate from non-certified material; and Identity Preserved traces palm oil back to a single identifiable source throughout the chain.
